our annual financial application
software listings.
Due to an increasing interest in
smartphone apps, in this year’s directory we’ve added operating
system categories for two popular
smartphone and tablet systems:
Apple’s iPhone IOS and Google’s

Android. While there are just a
handful of financial apps listed for
these smartphones now, I expect
the number will grow. Smartphone
apps can be especially useful to
mobile financial professionals who
spend much of their time out of the
office.
In other directory changes this
year, the website reference now
refers to the product rather than the
software vendor. Many multi-product software vendors have
established product-specific websites. This can help you more
quickly get access to the product
information that interests you.
To qualify for a free listing in
the directory, the financial application software or online service
must be a standard package that
runs online or on at least one
popular PC operating system, such
as Microsoft Windows or the Mac
OS, be customarily sold in Canada
and support relevant Canadian
business requirements, such as the
HST/GST. Only one vendor, the
developer or principal distributor,
was listed for each financial application.
Vendors are listed in alphabetical order, with their products following in software product key
numerical order. Contact details are
provided for each vendor, so you
can easily request additional information on software of interest to
you.
The website is often a good first
stop to get detailed product information, so we list the website URL
for most. Some vendors provide
free demonstration software you
may download from the web and
evaluate on your PC to see if it suits
your requirements.
The vendors supplied all information in this directory. We edited
and reviewed the data they submitted. However, we did not review
the operations of any application
nor did we verify the information
vendors supplied.
Some software applications can
be customized by the buyer (look
for source code availability) or by
the vendor, usually for an addi-
tional customizing charge. How-
ever, we did not list any programs
sold only on a custom basis,
because the capabilities will usu-
ally vary considerably in different
installations.
